One of the loveliest views - Sutton On Rogue Ranch.

I love the 'Allen House' - better known as 'the guest house'. And truly, any guest would love it with elevated views over the Rogue Rive from its picture windows.

This photo is taken from the garden, looking past the Allen House deck, but is always gorgeous in the morning with the sun shining through.

This photo was taken Monday of this week, and the weather has been just incredibly lovely, like this for well over a week now. Temperature is in the mid 70s. So perfect 'outdoors' weather. Too nice to stay indoors.

I'll try to post more photos over the weekend ...

So much fall beauty all in just one spot - Sutton Ranches.

The Rogue River passes in front of the guest house. With weather well into the 70s, a delightful place to sit and read a good book and enjoy the cloudless blue sky and glorious colors.

These wonderful tree colors are a little further upstream, by the botanical garden area. The red color is dazzling.

An inviting trail to walk along. It leads to the vegetable garden, but is close to the river, too. Kind of a private, secret spot, but very lovely.

Well this is 'next door' to the veggie garden. A dream tree house. It overlooks the Rogue River. A great place to play and spend time, and if you don't want a veggie garden, you could possibly build your own tree house, too!

Some of the veggie garden - past its prime, but still with gorgeous fall colors, and pumpkins.
A great place in summer to collect blackberries. Yum, yum!

Check out this display of fall foliage - it's by the trout pond. Looks like fireworks!
A stunning display!

And that's NOT all ...
Check back tomorrow. I'll add some more.

A touch of fall in the air ...

A little earlier this year than other years, but I can feel a slight touch of fall in the air. Hopefully it will pass and lovely moderate days will return.

The leaves will soon change their hue and burst forth in full fall colors. But meantime the waterfall on the trout pond glistens like a rare white diamond.

Why do I work when I could swim ... how tempting is this pool on the banks of the Rogue River?

I need to concentrate on my work. But now I see what the pool in front of the guest house on the Rogue River looks like this morning, and I want to be there, not here.

Sutton Ranches - never looked better or more tempting. I'm going to earmark some time on the weekend for the pool - I've decided. Can't think of a lovelier place that I know of, to relax and swim in crystal clear water on wonderful sunny dry heat days.

I'm sure there are fish in the Rogue ...

It always seems to have someone fishing nearby, and where else but on your ranch Rogue River frontage to the riffle watching them land that catch of the day.

Sure looks like fun, but the trout and bass ponds on the ranch are a lot gentler for me. Still, it is fun to see them land their prizes, especially from the cool of the tree shadows as the temperature nudges into the 90s. September 12th, 2013.

Oregon Airport 08 - Southern Oregon - White City

Not many might know that Oregon Airport #08 is located right on the Sutton on Rogue ranch property. It's a private landing strip, but has all facilities. For many years it was a major heliport, and has a hanger that is built specifically to service helicopters.

It's always kept in immaculate condition. It is private and secluded. But I always love to see those that drop by to visit in their small craft, even if they are just practicing their landing skills. Just 12 miles from Medford International airport. Very accessible and convenient to the Rogue Valley area.

Summer Coolness - Sutton on Rogue Ranch Waterfall on Fish Pond.

Mid-summer, and it's great to be surrounded by 'coolness'. None more so, perhaps, than the beautiful waterfall on the Sutton Ranch at the trout pond. Great living in Southern Oregon. Simply the best!

Dog-chaser Delight - Flocks of Canadian Geese.

Just lately there have been numerous groups/flocks of Canadian Geese enjoying the pastures (and the fish ponds) here at Sutton on Rogue ranch.

Those in the pasture let me get a little closer than usual. The dog loves these wonderful birds, and gets great delight at seeing them fly off as he scurries towards them. I think I said in an earlier blog post that this place is bird watcher's paradise!

A bit of Trivia: Did you know that when geese are flying, it is known as a skein of geese?

The young ones.

I'm enjoying seeing these dear deer around at the moment. They are sweet and so naively young - inquisitive about everything.  I wonder what lies ahead for them.

These two, possibly brothers, look so content in one of Sutton on Rouge pastures - so beautiful in the golden rays of the setting sun.

A riffle on the Rogue.

A view from the Sutton on Rogue Ranch pool. A riffle being enjoyed by rafters on Saturday evening. Fun to watch. Lovely on a summer evening.

A cool, cool evening by the pool.

A hot day?

No better place to be than at the pool in front of the guest house on Sutton on Rogue ranch, on the banks of a riffle on the Rogue River. Just gorgeous amid the greenery.

Bird Watching Paradise

The Rogue River, trees, fish, wildlife. A great place for bird watching. The high-pitched screams of the gorgeous red-tailed hawk currently seen in the region of the Sutton on Rogue ranch.

Easily spotted on an short trip just one mile down the road to the newly-opened Kristelle winery, that helps to show this wonderful valley at its best.

How hot?

Sunday it was nearly 100F degrees. But the trout pond on the Sutton on Rogue Ranch looks like a cool oasis. This is the foot bridge over to the island.

Such gorgeous fresh colors this time of the year, offset by stunning reflections. The round ripple shape in the water heralds new trout babies - a reminder that life is good, and life goes on!

Ah! Such a wonderful life at the ranch.

Take a Walk on The Wild Side!

Well, not really, but what a riot of color at this time of the year. Sun shining brightly to bounce off all the glistening new foliage surfaces. So much in the world to be grateful for. Part of the upstream garden along side the main cabin.

Some complimentary colors and a burst of fresh greenery. Blink and you'll miss it - as next week it will change yet again. Savor the freshness. Refresh your soul.

Just a lazy summer evening

One of my favorite things to do. Get in one of the paddle boats and take a leisurely trip around the trout pond, past the waterfall, the roses in bloom, and curious ducks, on a delightful summer evening.

So peaceful. So enjoyable. No one else around - unless I want them to be!

Art amid Mother Nature's Artistry

I love it in spring when the blossoms frame this pelican couple sculpture - when the pink compliments the green-grey patina, and all is 'perfect' and fresh in the garden along side the mighty Rogue River.

I think words are pointless. Just enjoy!

Botanical Garden Oasis

Botanical gardens are always a delight to visit and the garden upstream from the main house (Sutton on Rogue ranch) is like a private botanical garden, so peaceful, with seasonal colors in flowers and trees. A lovely expanse of flat green grass carpet that is perfect for parties and seeing the occasional wedding or two.

So quiet and peaceful, a lovely place to sit and read or be alone with your thoughts, and a smile on your face. The only noise being the riffle sounds from the Rogue River, and maybe a few birds. On Sunday there was the additional noise of 4 deer scurrying away as I walked though the garden and drank in its beauty and peace.

This bench is set back from the river, at the back of the garden, but is just a perfect place to sit. The azalea bushes are about to bloom, you can see those rosy blossom heads showing behind the bench, but probably the dogwood's magical white butterfly-like flowers will be gone by then.

A lovely secret special spot, I'm sure you'll agree.

White Dogwoods - spectacular against the greenery.

Can a white flowered tree be so stunning as a dogwood? I think not. Like a cloud of gorgeous white butterflies drifting out of new spring greenery. This dogwood heralds the entry to the driveway, with the sparkling blue of the Rogue beyond. Brilliant in its blinding sun-drenched white against a crisp blue sky.

Spring: Red Maples Over Trout Pond Waterfall.

What better introduction to Sutton Ranches, than the trout pond waterfall in spring glory. Red maples all aflame! Ducks and Canadian geese visit regularly. They are sometimes camera shy.
Welcome to this little part of the world - share in its beauty.
